The I National Congress of Local Police, to be held in Benidorm, closes its registration with 700 participants from more than 20 cities

25 March 2024
El I Congreso Nacional de Policías Locales, que se celebrará en Benidorm, cierra su inscripción con 700 participantes de más de 20 ciudades

The first National Congress of Local Police to be held in Benidorm has already guaranteed success as the maximum planned registration quota has been completed. In total, there will be 700 participants in this event which will be held in the Sala Faraón de Terra Mítica on April 12 and 13. This congress is organized by the Benidorm City Council and is co-organized by the National Union of Local Police Chiefs and Commanders (Unijempol) and the SPPLB. The city has already hosted the last two meetings at the local City Hall.

The local police officers who will attend this congress come from around twenty Spanish cities and will have the opportunity to attend the presentations offered by the judges of the Supreme Court as well as other police commanders on current issues of the Local Police such as the future of the force, the connection with citizens to improve security, the detection of cases of sexual trafficking, the Local Police as judicial police or the use of weapons and their consequences, among others. Among the speakers is also Carlos Fernández, community manager of Police 2.0.

This is the first national congress, which has two precedents: the official meetings that took place in Benidorm in the last two years, in which, according to the organizers, people were always left on the waiting list due to lack of space in the enclosure. On this occasion, the acceptance has also been maximum and it is estimated that the waiting list is more than a hundred people.

They have confirmed their attendance at the event, among other authorities, the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez; the Minister of Justice, Elisa María Núñez; the Government delegate, Pilar Bernabé; the subdelegate of the Government, Juan Antonio Nieves; the president of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEM), María José García-Pelayo, and members of the municipal corporation.

In addition to the presentations on April 12, the congress has also organized a series of activities for companions such as a visit to the city by open-top bus, a visit to the beach and the Mundomar animal park with food included.

In addition, on April 13 there will be an exhibition day of police and military units. Thus, there will be an exhibition of the Canine Unit of Benidorm Local Police, the Reserve and Security Group (GRS) of the Civil Guard, the Parachute Brigade (BRIPAC) of the Army and the TASER electronic control device. It will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at  Circus Maximus in Terra Mítica.
