If the proposal succeed, the current director of Invattur and CdT will replace the deceased Roc Gregori in the Board of the Foundation.

Francisco Juan Martínez, proposed as the new patron of Visit Benidorm

20 April 2018
Francisco Juan Martínez, propuesto como nuevo patrono de Visit Benidorm

Francisco Juan Martínez, current director of the Valencian Institute of Tourism Technologies (Invattur) and the Tourism Center (CdT) 'Domingo Devesa', has been proposed as the new patron of Visit Benidorm Foundation - within the trusteeship quota of the City Council - in substitution of the recently deceased Roc Gregori. The mayor, Toni Pérez, has drawn up the nomination proposal after being endorsed by almost all of the corporation in the Board of Spokespersons. The motion must be decided in committee and later approved in full.

The designation proposal is based on the "recognized competence and experience" in the tourism sector demonstrated by Francisco Juan Martínez throughout his career. Based on the Regulation of Foundations of the Valencian Community, Martinez must accept the position. If this is the case, their designation must be communicated to the Protectorate of Foundations of the Generalitat Valenciana.

Benidorm City Council has a maximum of ten members in the Board of the Visit Benidorm Foundation, which is chaired by the mayor. Of the nine remaining seats, six are occupied by a councilor from each municipal political group; and the remaining three are of free designation based on the experience and recognition of them in the tourism sector. Until his death, Roc Gregori was one of the employers of free appointment, along with Fernando Vera and Pere Joan Devesa.
