Foietes Park in Benidorm, FOPA Award for the work with better integration in its environment and greater respect for the Environment

04 October 2019
El Parque de Foietes de Benidorm, Premio FOPA a la obra con mejor integración en su entorno y mayor respeto al Medio Ambiente

Foietes Park in Benidorm has just been proclaimed as the best environmental work done in the province of Alicante.

The construction of this urban park and the development, recovery, adaptation and environmental regeneration of the urban habitat around Foietes ravine has earned recognition from the management of public works in the province of Alicante, FOPA, in the fifteenth edition of FOPA Awards.

Benidorm City Council has been the promoter of this work that has been executed by OHL, SA. The mayor, Toni Pérez, has welcomed the news of the award and highlighted the commitment of the Benidorm City Council. "It is - he has ensured - a recognition of our commitment to urban regeneration practiced under two premises: that of creating more habitable spaces for citizens and doing so by achieving the best and most respectful integration into the environment."

Foietes Park was already a finalist in the engineering award ‘City and Territory Albert Serratosa’, created by the College of Civil Engineers, Canals and Ports of Madrid.

Fifteen projects completed during the 2017 and 2018 years attended this edition.

FOPA Prize distinguishes those organizations and institutions that have promoted the realization of a work, as well as the contractor or contractors that develop it, provided they stand out for their technical uniqueness, either engineering or urban planning and architecture, for their economic importance, urban and social for the whole province or for the city or area where it is located. And at the same time it grants a differentiated award to the work with better integration in its environment and with greater respect for the Environment.

The IES Playa Flamenca, which already won the FAD Architecture award this year, is the work of the architect Alfredo Payá, has won the precious award. Special mention has corresponded to the work of  Serra Grossa Tunnel, on line 1 of the Tram in the section of Finca Adoc.

The Prizes consist of a Sculpture by the Alicante artist José Mª Morán Berrutti and will be delivered in the near future.
