First painting exhibition of CRIS users in Benidorm at Llorca Linares center

11 December 2017
Primera exposición de pintura de los usuarios del CRIS de Benidorm en el Llorca Linares

This morning the painting exhibition 'Salud Arte Mental' has been inaugurated, carried out by users of the CRIS (Center for Rehabilitation and Social Integration), and Day Center for mentally ill chronics of Benidorm, with the collaboration of the Department of Social Welfare. The act, presented by the councilor, Angela Llorca, has had the presence of artists, technical staff and specialists of the center and a representation of AFEM (Association of Relatives and Mentally Ill) of the Marina Baixa.

Ángela Llorca has congratulated the ten participants in the sample for the work done and have managed to prove to be "great artists." He also recalled the recent celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities during the previous week. "Your creations," said Llorca, "express to all of us who during this week are going to visit the exhibition that in art there are no disabilities or handicaps, and that among all of us we still have to break many barriers".

The exhibited works have been made inside the 'Creative Space' workshop of the CRIS. Also frames and supports, for which recycled material has been used. With the realization of this activity of free choice, it is intended that the person experiences the recovery of interests that have been paralyzed by the disease and find a way in which, through the development of their creative capacity, they can feel better.

The exhibition will remain at Llorca Llinares center until next Friday, December 15 and may be visited during the opening hours of the social center.
