The Fiestas Committee launches its traditional October 9 Fair

07 October 2023
La Comissió de Festes pone en marcha su tradicional Fira del 9 d’Octubre

The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, has inaugurated this morning the traditional 'Fira del 9 de Octubre' organized by the Comissió de Festes Majors Patronals together with the queens of 2023 Festivities, Angélica Morenilla Such and Daniela Talavera Ventura, and the president of the Commission, Vicente Solaz. This market is located in Elche Park, where the members of the Commission will attend different stalls selling typical products and offer culinary tastings and a bar with sandwiches and drinks at popular prices until next Monday, October 9.

The first mayor and the queens of the celebrations were in charge of cutting the inaugural ribbon and the first to tour the 'porrat' stalls, along with the courts of honor and other members of the Municipal Corporation. Likewise, Toni Pérez wished the members of the Fiestas Committee “many sales” in this market, “which will translate into more financial support to be able to have the best program on our big days.”

Throughout these three days, citizens and tourists who want to collaborate with the Patronales will be able to find and buy different traditional products at this fair, such as basketry and wickerwork, salted meats, bakery items and pastries, ceramics, mistela or chocolates, among others. In addition, “rodabalcons” with the image of the Virgin of Sofratge and Saint James will also be on sale, and there will be stalls making artisanal “paparajotes” and pumpkin fritters.

The money raised at this fair will be used to finance the program of events for the next Major Patronal Festivals, which will take place from November 11 to 16.
