Festes Majors Patronals Committee will hold its ‘Marathon of the Euro’ on Saturday, September 5
It will start from l’Hort de Colón, on Tomás Ortuño, with the aim of raising funds for the festivities taking place next November
Comissió de Festes Majors Patronals de Benidorm will hold its traditional ‘Marathon of the Euro’ on Saturday, September 5. The initiative aims to raise funds for the Festes Majors Patronals taking place next November, with local hospitality businesses, shops, residents and tourists joining the fundraising effort every year. This year’s edition of the ‘Marathon of the Euro’ will begin at 10 a.m. on Tomás Ortuño Street, near l’Hort de Colón, where all the one-euro coins donated by residents will be laid out to support the organisation of the festivities, which this year will take place from November 7 to 11.
The Councillor for the department, Mariló Cebreros, explained that taking part in the opening of this unique ‘marathon’ will be the 2026 Festes Majors Patronals Queens, Laura Ivars Marín and Carmen Guillem Campos, together with their courts of honour; Comissió President Ramón Cano; and members of the Municipal Corporation, “to support, as we naturally should, this initiative so that next November we can enjoy the best possible festivities”.
Cebreros has therefore also publicly invited residents to support the Comissió de Festes and encouraged individuals and businesses to come to l’Hort de Colón during the day’s festivities to make their donations in one-euro coins. She also recalled that, as is customary, the queens and their ladies-in-waiting will visit businesses in the city’s commercial areas to collect donations.
The councillor explained that “in addition to supporting the event by making a donation in one-euro coins, those who wish can also stop by the bar set up by the Comissió and enjoy a montadito or a soft drink alongside the mayorales and mayoralas”. Once again this year, the ‘Un metre per la festa’ initiative will also be running, allowing peñas, businesses, groups of friends and others to contribute €43 to the fundraising campaign, equivalent to one linear metre.
