The Department of Health and Festivities and the Transfusion Center encourage to donate next Tuesday, from 9:30 to 20:30, at Benidorm City Council

Extraordinary blood donation to maintain hospital activity

11 September 2020
Donación extraordinaria de sangre para mantener la actividad hospitalaria

The Department of Health of Benidorm City Council encourages the population to join a blood donation session that will take place on Tuesday, September 15, between 9.30 am and 8.30 pm in the Researchers Room of the Benidorm Municipal Archive , where these extraordinary collections are usually made and where the health team of Alicante Transfusion Center will attend to the donors.

Mónica Gómez, Councilor for Health, today has announced the donation and summoned residents and visitors for next Tuesday, appealing to the spirit of "Benidorm Solidario" that has been developing such notable and brilliant actions since the beginning of the pandemic. It is, she explained, "an extraordinary donation in order to achieve a good reserve of this vital element that allows hospital activity to be maintained in the many cases for which it is necessary to carry out blood transfusions or its derivatives"

The donation will take place in morning and afternoon sessions: from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm and from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm and this time it comes to occupy the traditional donation calendar of the Solidarity Festival in which the Association of Clubs were very active part.

The Councilor for Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles, joins the initiative and has encouraged party groups in the city, “in a year like this marked by the pandemic and the absence of festive activities, to join the initiative and participate collaborating in this Benidorm Solidarity ”as has been done in previous editions of September in the so-called Solidarity Festival.

To be a blood donor, you must weigh more than 50 kilos, be between 18 and 65 years old, in good health and not have empty stomach and always well hydrated at Puerta de Poniente entrance of Benidorm City Council.

The councilors Mónica Gómez and Jesús Carrobles have highlighted, encouraging participation, that "with each donation three lives are saved."
