A conference focused on youth and adolescents closes the days of the International Day Against Gender Violence

More than a hundred people attended on Wednesday afternoon, at the Casa del Fester, to the talk 'We talk about gender violence in adolescents and young people', taught by Jesús Herranz Bellido, clinical psychologist and professor at the University of Alicante. The talk was organized by the Department of Equality of Benidorm and the Provincial Council of Alicante, with the collaboration of the Association of Housewives of Benidorm, and has been the act that has closed the program of activities organized by Benidorm City Council on the occasion of the International Day against Gender Violence, which was commemorated last Saturday, November 25.

The councillor of Equality, Paquita Ripoll, accompanied the speaker and the representatives of the Association of Housewives presided over by Vini Pérez Espasa. Paquita Ripoll has stated that "it is important to promote this type of activity to raise awareness among the population about the need to combat gender violence from all areas" and stressed "the important social support that all the activities have had during last week".

The events began on Tuesday 21 with the placement of a banner on the main balcony of Benidorm City Council with the slogan 'Benidorm against gender violence', as well as the inauguration in the Espai d'Art of the consistory of a sample of posters, carried out by the students of IES Pere Maria Orts i Bosch to denounce violence against women. An exhibition that has a dozen posters made by high school students in the center of Benidorm.

The program continued on Wednesday the 22nd with 'Singing agains Violence', at Casa del Fester, performed by the Choir of the Association of Housewives of Benidorm. On Thursday the 23rd, the 'Conference Against Gender Violence' took place at the City Hall, while on Friday the 24th a conference was held at Casa del Fester 'And after the violence what? Know three strategies to live the life you deserve.

On the morning of Saturday 25, International Day against Gender Violence, a manifesto was read in Plaza del Ayuntamiento and a minute of silence was observed for the victims of sexist violence. Then the 'District March against gender violence' was held and an act of homage to the victims under the slogan 'Drowned screams', in the Administrative Extension of Els Tolls. Finally, that same day, the play 'A ciegas' was performed at the 'José Llorca Linares' Social Center.

In the aforementioned events on Saturday 25, the Marina Baixa region joined to cry out against gender violence. Representatives of the eight towns with the largest population marched in Benidorm to say 'enough' to a social scourge that so far this year has claimed the lives of at least 44 women and eight children, leaving 20 others orphaned. the march involved several hundred people, representatives of different social groups and women, as well as the mayors of Benidorm, Toni Pérez; La Nucía, Bernabé Cano; l'Alfàs del Pi, Vicente Arques; Polop, Gabriel Fernández; Callosa d'En Sarrià, Josep Saval; and Finestrat, Juan Francisco Pérez.
