Those establishments that decide to restart their activity according to the Government decree, can send their distribution proposal, which will be studied by technicians and specified by the City Council, ABRECA and the neighborhood associations.

The City Council will work with restaurants and bars in the layout of terraces while the limited capacity is maintained

El Ayuntamiento trabajará con restaurantes y bares en la disposición de las terrazas mientras se mantengan los aforos limitados

Given the announcement by the Government of Spain that bars, restaurants and cafes will be able to open their terraces to 30% in phase 1 of lifting restrictions, Benidorm City Council has reached out to the sector to work together on the planning and distribution of these spaces. This has been communicated by the mayor, Toni Pérez, to the employers of the sector, ABRECA, noting that "we want to facilitate the return to activity to those establishments that decide to reopen their doors in that first phase, making the layout of the terraces more flexible and guaranteeing that this distribution complies with the safety distances indicated by the health authorities ”.

According to the mayor, “we are going to request the establishments that take advantage of this first phase of lifting restrictions and send to the City Council a proposal for the distribution of tables and chairs on their terraces based on the permitted capacity. This proposal will be studied by a technical team, and also discussed with the neighborhood associations of each of the areas, to ensure that the proposed provision does not generate disagreements in case it implies any change on the original distribution or space the terrace was before. "

Toni Pérez stressed that "we are facing an exceptional situation that requires extraordinary measures and above all collaboration between all the parties involved." “It is not a matter of setting aside the municipal ordinance on the occupation of tables and chairs, but rather of looking for temporary solutions that allow the establishments to get the most out of the capacities set with the Government and to do it in an absolutely orderly and without causing harm to third parties ”.

The establishments should send their proposal via email to terrazascomercio@benidorm.org once the Government of Spain confirms the exact terms, measures and conditions in which the activity on the terraces can be resumed. In addition, for questions or queries, the City Council makes the free telephone numbers of the Collective Help Network (#RAC) available to establishments: 900 701 322 and 900 10 12 15.

Likewise, the mayor recalled that, to reinforce preventive measures and health security, the City Council is going to offer establishments that reopen their doors the free disinfection service for accesses, terraces and facades, which since the beginning of April has been put at the disposal of residents' associations. As with the disinfection of buildings, this service is provided upon request, so to ensure its correct planning and development, it must be requested in advance by establishments that plan to resume their activity on May 11 or during that week.

To request this service, which is carried out by four brigades in the morning and afternoon and which is also extended to commerce, establishments must send an email to fccbenidorm@gmail.com or cleaningviaria@benidorm.org, or contact the free phones of #RAC. In all cases, the address and telephone number of the contact person must be indicated. In addition, urgent cases can be communicated by phone to the Street Cleaning department (966815498) or to the dealership (965855184).
