The City Council observes a minute of silence for the murdered woman victim of sexist violence

Benidorm City Council has observed a minute of silence this afternoon in memory of the last woman murdered as a victim of gender violence in our country. With the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, at the head, the municipal corporation has shown in this way its strongest rejection of this social scourge.

On this occasion, she was a 76-year-old woman from Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid), who lost her life yesterday Thursday due to the blows that her husband allegedly hit her on the head with a sharp object. The alleged murderer has been arrested and placed at the disposal of the judicial authority.
There are already 27 women victims of gender violence this year in Spain, 1,105 since the statistics began to be counted in 2003.

The Department of Equality recalls that the free number for assistance to victims of gender violence, 016, serves all victims of sexist violence 24 hours a day and in 52 different languages. The call does not leave a trace on the phone bill, although it is recommended to delete it from the mobile phone record.
