Carnival returns to Benidorm

After the 'break' forced by the pandemic, Benidorm recovers this year the Carnival, the first major event in the city's festive calendar. L'Associació de Penyes 'Verge del Sofratge', with the support of the Department of Festivities directed by Jesús Carrobles, is at this time finalizing the preparations for the Children's and Adults' Carnival parades to be held this Saturday, February 26.

As a novelty, this year the route of both parades will end in Julio Iglesias auditorium, "a venue larger than Plaza SSMM Reyes de España, totally safe, equipped with the necessary services and in which the participants will be able to enjoy the day with greater comfort”.

According to data provided by l'Associació de Penyes, today there are 22 participating groups and 3 individuals registered for the Children's Carnival; and 28 groups and also 3 individuals for the Adult.

The mayor of Fiestas has reported that "as usual, prizes have been established in the Individual and Group categories both in the Children's Carnival and in the Adult". In the case of the smallest, three prizes have been set in each category, which will consist of vouchers that can be exchanged in the Base stores for amounts ranging from 100 to 300 euros in the case of Groups, and from 50 to 100 euros in the Individual modality.

In the Adult, there will be three prizes of 100, 200 and 300 euros in the Individual category, and eight prizes for Groups: three of 100 euros, and the rest of 200, 400, 600, 800 and 1,000 euros.

The organization has summoned the participants in the Children's Carnival at 10:00 a.m. in Escuelas streets, from where the parade will depart 30 minutes later, which will tour Ruzafa and Herrerías streets to Plaza de SSMM Reyes de España. From there and through Parque de l'Aigüera you will reach Julio Iglesias auditorium, where the parade will end and where a concert with the best songs from the Disney universe is planned at noon, as well as bars at popular prices. Throughout the morning, and once the jury's deliberation is complete, the prizes will be awarded.

As established in the bases, on Saturday at the meeting point you can obtain a bib number to participate in the parade, only groups or individual participants previously registered will be eligible for prizes.

At night, the Adult Carnival participants will gather at 8:30 p.m. on Venus Street. Half an hour later the parade will depart from this point, following the same route as the Children's Carnival. At the end of the parade, the party will begin in the auditorium, presented and enlivened by Los 40, with DJ Varu and Aitor Belda, and in which there will also be a bar at popular prices.

Benidorm will say goodbye to Carnival on Tuesday, March 1, with the Burial of the Sardine, which will begin at 9:00 p.m. at Mayor Square.
