Benidorm will repeat the experience of the 'School of Frikis' next course

21 June 2017
Benidorm repetirá la experiencia de la ‘Escola de Frikis’ el próximo curso

City Council and UMH study collaborate on training programs linked to the Smart City

Benidorm will have its 'Escuela de Frikis' next 2017/2018 course after "the experience so positive" that has meant the premiere in the city of this educational project promoted by the Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche (UMH), with the which has collaborated the City Council and "in which have participated a total of 54 students from 7 to 12 years."

The mayor and head of the Education department, Toni Pérez, explained that "this 'School of Frikis' has served to foster concerns about the technology and computer science of these students, and also to develop their skills in this area." Pérez has announced the new edition of the 'School of Frikis' after the meeting he has held with the Vice Chancellors of Planning and Information Technology of the UMH, Fernando Borrás and Federico Botella; and the director-manager of the UMH Foundation, Tonia Salinas.

From November until June 10, classes have been held in José Llorca Linares social center, where students have learned computer programming, thus promoting their problem solving, logic and creativity skills. In addition, the older students, those of 6th grade, have participated in a provincial contest of Projects Scratch creating their own video game. A contest in which Marc Gómez Martínez, one of the students of the 'School of Frikis' of Benidorm, was imposed.

As part of the new edition of the 'School of Frikis', during the meeting has shown the intention of the City Council and the UMH to collaborate in different projects and technology training programs linked to 'Smart City' and directed to different ranges and segments of the population.
