The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, has indicated today that the City Council will include in the municipal budget of 2021 funds to equip the facilities of the cultural center included in the first phase of the works, “but always without neglecting the social and economic needs of the families and the productive fabric of the city derived from the pandemic, which continue to be the priority of the local government ”.

Toni Pérez has transferred this message after visiting the works of the cultural center together with the president of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, and after he has ratified the commitment of the Consell to finish the works of the first phase in the middle of next year, putting part of the building available to the City Council.

The regional secretary for Tourism, Francesc Colomer; the general director of this area, Herick Campos; the general director of SPTCV, Antonio Rodes; as well as representatives of the municipal Corporation; the president of the Hosbec hotel association, Toni Mayor, and the president of the Servigroup chain, José María Caballé, among others.

This first phase of the works includes the execution of a smaller room with around 500 seats, approved facilities for the professional music and dance conservatory, a cafeteria, as well as the treatment of the facades and roofs of all these areas.

During the visit, the mayor has demanded from President Puig "the commitment that, once this first phase of the works is concluded, the Consell allocate economic resources to new construction phases, with which to complete the rest of the facilities planned in the project" .

In this sense, Toni Pérez stressed that “we are talking about an infrastructure long awaited by citizens, and that in addition to a clear cultural and educational nature, it also has an undeniable impact on tourism, our main industry, which requires new spaces for strengthen its position within the congress segment ”.
