'Rafael Doménech' auditorium in the Cultural Center hosted the emotional event where, in addition to relatives of the laureates and representatives of the educational world, the mayor, Toni Pérez, the Councilor for Education, Maite Moreno, and other members of the municipal corporation and the regional deputy, José Ramón González de Zárate.

After 6:00 p.m. the event began with a performance by the Clarinet Group of 'José Pérez Barceló' Municipal Professional Conservatory, which, under the direction of Raúl Mahiques, put the musical note to the event by performing pieces by Vivaldi, Mangani and Mozart.

The mayor and the Councilor for Education delivered the diplomas and some gifts to the young students. In total, 25 honorable mentions in Primary Education (EP); 22 in Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO); 31 extraordinary EP awards; and finally, 4 of ESO.

At the end of the awards ceremony, Toni Pérez addressed those present to highlight the important role that society must play to guarantee the education of future generations. The mayor gave as an example the African saying that "to educate a child it takes an entire tribe", popularized by the pedagogue and philosopher, José Antonio Marina, as a reference to the need to involve all of us, as a community, in the process. educational.

Toni Pérez recalled that, to the students awarded by the Generalitat, many others must be added by the City Council, "according to the criteria of the educational centres" with honourable mentions. Furthermore, he recognized the efforts of all those who, despite “working hard,” have not achieved it and asked for “those who are there and those who are not” a loud applause that resonated strongly throughout the auditorium.

After remembering some of the anecdotes that the students had told him moments before when receiving their awards, Toni Pérez stressed that from the City Council, "We are going to continue working so that every day the quality of the services is better and we can enjoy the Benidorm that we want." ” and, with the effort, “pay tribute to the generations of tomorrow so that these young people succeed in future life.”
The mayor ended his speech by wishing everyone the best for Christmas.
