The City Council has installed, next to the accessible beach point in Elche Park, a seating zone in the water and handrails to facilitate access

Benidorm provides beach access for people with reduced mobility

Benidorm amplia los servicios de playas para personas con movilidad reducida

Benidorm City Council has expanded beach services for people with reduced mobility with the installation of a seating area in the water and a walkway for easier access. These new services have been operational since last weekend, next to the accessible beach area in Elche Park. The Mayor, Toni Pérez, and the Councillor for Beaches, Mónica Gómez, visited this area to hear user feedback on the new facilities.

As the Mayor explained, "with this new bathing area, people with reduced mobility have a space adapted to their needs where they can cool off and enjoy the sea independently, thus complementing the adapted restrooms available at the accessible beach area." Furthermore, "thanks to the railings that have been installed below, people with mobility issues can access the sea more conveniently and safely."

The new bathing area has 22 seats and is covered with a tarpaulin to protect users from the sun.

The mayor announced that "these new services will be operational until October 15th," thus covering "the months of greatest demand and highest number of users on our beaches." He also noted that "in Benidorm, we were pioneers in promoting accessibility services on our beaches with the opening of accessible beach points, thus ensuring that everyone can enjoy the full experience of a day at the beach."

During the summer, Benidorm opens its three accessible beach points, which are staffed by staff from the company that holds the concession for comprehensive beach management; these staff are responsible for the adapted restrooms. These three points are located in Elche Park, opposite Mont Benidorm Avenue (Poniente zone), and at the corner of Murcia Street (Levante zone).

Both the Levante point and the Elche Park point provide service year-round.
