Ecoembes will distribute 200 yellow and blue containers and place another 15 large ones at Plaza de SS MM Reyes de España during the concerts
Benidorm promotes recycling awareness by distributing containers for packaging and cardboard to local social clubs
Benidorm City Council's Departments of Festivals, Environment, and Street Cleaning have launched an awareness campaign to promote recycling during the upcoming Patron Saint Festivities. The campaign is being carried out in conjunction with Ecoembes, the non-profit organisation that manages the recycling of household, commercial, and industrial packaging.
The initiative will involve distributing blue and yellow recycling containers to the city's social clubs (penyes) to encourage the recycling of paper and cardboard, and plastics and packaging, respectively. Ecoembes has provided 200 yellow and 200 blue containers for distribution to the clubs, although they have clarified that if more are needed, they simply need to request them.
Similarly, the organisation will also provide approximately fifteen larger yellow containers, which will be placed at various points in the Plaza de SS MM Reyes de España (Plaza of Our Lordship the King and Queen of Spain) for use especially during the concerts scheduled there.
The campaign was presented at the City Hall by the councillors for Festivals, Environment, and Street Cleaning: Mariló Cebreros, Mónica Gómez, and Luis Navarro, respectively, along with representatives from Ecoembes.
Sonia Poveda, Ecoembes' delegate in the Valencian Community, emphasised that "recycling should be easy for everyone," hence her organisation's commitment to providing bins and containers "that bring recycling to every corner." "In this case, we are working with the Benidorm City Council for their Festes Majors (local festivals)
Patronals (local festivals) so they can distribute the materials among the festival groups and, together, make the circularity of packaging possible." These types of containers will also be available at the municipal administrative offices.
Latest meetings between the Commission and Clubs
On the other hand, this week meetings have taken place between the 2025 Festival Committee and the Clubs Association, the penultimate meetings before the start of the festivities. The mayor attended these meetings, held at Casa del Fester, to thank both organisations for their work throughout the year and to express his conviction that “we will have unforgettable celebrations.” “You have had a great year, which is the best prelude to what is to come,” Pérez concluded, also wishing everyone “to enjoy the festivities in peace.”
