The City Council undertakes to contribute more than 1.5 million and requests the Generalitat for subsidies that complement this contribution and allow the hiring of unemployed people of all ages

Benidorm promotes a great employment plan to hire 150 people for a year

El Ayuntamiento se compromete a aportar 1,5 millones

Benidorm City Council is going to promote a great employment plan with the aim of being able to hire 150 people for a year. For this, the City Council "undertakes to contribute more than 1.5 million euros and is going to ask the Generalitat Valenciana for subsidies to complement this contribution in order to achieve such a significant number of contracts."
This is how the mayor, Toni Pérez, has transferred it today after “the Local Government Board (JGL) has approved a proposal from the Councilor for Employment and Local Development, Mónica Gómez, in which the City Council certifies its commitment to provide that important amount to hire unemployed people of all ages and different profiles and qualifications so that for 12 months they provide service in different municipal facilities and dependencies ”. "The best social policy, and more at this time, is employment," she stressed.
The same proposal includes requesting the Generalitat Valenciana to participate in the ECOVID and EMPUJU programs, co-financed by LABORA and the City Councils, so that 50 young people under 30 years of age and a hundred people over that age can be hired, thus covering all segments of the labor force. “We want this great employment plan to reach the entire population and do so with record numbers of hiring. Hence the commitment of the government team to allocate more than 1.5 million euros of our budget to this great employment plan, the most ambitious of those that have been promoted in recent years, "she added.
Toni Pérez has pointed out that “in order to achieve this volume of contracts, it is essential that the Generalitat Valenciana fully grant us the subsidies that we are going to request, within the call for the ECOVID and EMPUJU programs, thus completing the very important budgetary effort that is going to be made this Town Hall. In the event that the Generalitat does not respond to our request in its entirety, the City Council will maintain our budgetary commitment, but unfortunately we would be forced to readjust the number of hires ”.
The total endowment of this great employment plan that the City Council is going to promote amounts to 4.1 million euros: 2.3 million euros for the ECOVID program and 1.8 for EMPUJU. Of these, the City Council will allocate about 890,000 euros for the first and more than 675,000 euros for the second.
"The creation of employment and the generation of opportunities that improve the employability of residents in Benidorm, and with them their quality of life, has always been a priority of this government team - he remarked-; and it is, even more so, in these times of difficulty, in which the crisis caused by the pandemic is preventing the city's productive fabric from working 100% and generating the same levels of employment as in 2019 ”.
As the mayor has advanced, "we hope that the administrative process of application and processing of subsidies by the Generalitat will be agile so that by the return of summer we will be in a position to formalize these contracts."
