The Department of Mobility of Benidorm City Council has informed today of the opening of the underground of Beniardá Avenue for the transit of emergency vehicles. This is the step before the opening of the road for all vehicles, which will be imminent since the main tasks have already been completed.

In this way, from today the underground passage of the avenue, which represented the bulk of the works that have been carried out in recent months, has once again been open. For the moment, and pending the imminent green light for the definitive opening, emergency vehicles such as ambulances, Local Police, National Police or Civil Guard, firefighters, and the like are the only ones authorized to use the underpass.

Beniardá Avenue was closed to traffic on September 15 to begin the work to underground the road, work that, although it has not been completed yet, has been completed in the most important part, which will allow road traffic to return to normal.

The forecast to reopen the road was located in ten months, with which the calculation placed the reopening date at the end of June or the beginning of July. However, the efforts made to advance the deadlines have given results and it has been able to open before the end of May.

Meanwhile, the city has responded efficiently to the enormous challenge of canceling one of the main entrance roads to Benidorm, with a daily load of more than 30,000 vehicles. In this sense, the City Council has recognized on numerous occasions the excellent behavior of drivers who, in a very high percentage, have complied with all the recommendations and alternative itineraries proposed for traffic to function correctly.
