El Club de Leones de Benidorm celebra su 50 aniversario y la creación del Leo Club ‘Aurum’

Benidorm Lions Club celebrated its 50th anniversary yesterday with an act in which also  Leo Club ‘Aurum’ was presented, formed entirely by young people. The mayor, Toni Pérez; the Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángela Llorca; members of the municipal Corporation; the president of Benidorm Lions Club, Pilar Ribagorda; and leonistic authorities from various parts of Spain; They participated in this anniversary, which took place in the City Hall.

The mayor highlighted the activity carried out by Lions Club in its five decades of career "in which they have not been able to do better"; as well as his contribution to Benidorm with examples such as the Children's Traffic Park, opened in 1994 and that "has served tens of thousands of young people in our city but also in the region and the province of Alicante."

Toni Pérez also recalled the lecture room of Foietes-Colonia Madrid neighborhood that ended up being part of Aitana school; and stressed the importance of recent projects and "as necessary as the prevention and awareness of gender violence among young people or the guide dog program." He also referred to his collaboration in the creation of the "tourist braille map so that blind people can enjoy Benidorm."

Finally, the mayor congratulated the local Lions Club for its twinning with those of Valencia and Malaga; and for the launch of Leo Club formed by “new sap” that arrives “with the objective of serving” and that “have been part of an international project born in our city, Costa Blanca Camp, and which also serves to internationalize even more the name of Benidorm ”.
