Benidorm intensifies surveillance of uncontrolled dumping of rubble

The Department of Street Cleaning, in collaboration with Benidorm Local Police, has intensified surveillance of illegal dumping detected throughout the municipality, especially in the most problematic areas and where violations are most frequent.

In this regard, the Department has reported that this surveillance campaign to prevent illegal dumping has already yielded results, as several offenders have been caught in the act and issued the corresponding fines. As announced in recent days, the Department has launched a campaign to increase surveillance in specific areas where a greater presence and frequency of illegal dumping of rubble and inert materials have been detected.

Therefore, Councillor Luis Navarro explained that, in addition to instructing the Local Police to intensify surveillance, "we will continue installing surveillance cameras at certain specific locations." These actions are part of the City Council's ongoing public awareness campaign regarding illegal dumping of construction debris, which also includes the removal of materials from such dumping, as has been happening for several days.

Plots of land, such as some located in the nightclub area near Avenida Comunidad Valenciana and others bordering the municipalities of Alfaz del Pi and Finestrat, are receiving increased attention. In fact, several fines have already been issued to offenders caught illegally dumping their waste.

The campaign launched by the Street Cleaning Department focuses on promoting the use of the recycling centre, "especially for individuals and small businesses carrying out minor construction projects with the appropriate permits." The councilor emphasized that "anyone can take their waste to the recycling centre as long as it has been sorted and separated. It is accepted there without any problems, and we are doing our part for the environment."

Navarro emphasised that companies carrying out construction work "have a legal obligation to find a waste management company to dispose of their waste" and that "it is prohibited to deposit it in public spaces, which then become uncontrolled dumps." The councillor stressed the existence and functionality of the Benidorm ecopark as "a place where we must take rubble and bulky waste." He also pointed out that individuals can use the municipal bulky waste collection service. "You just have to call, and they'll even pick it up the same day. It's about everyone doing their part, cooperating, and remembering that public spaces belong to everyone." The phone number for the bulky waste collection service is 96-5855184.
