Benidorm initiates the acts of the festivity of the Valencian Community with the nomination of Avenida 9 de Octubre
The City Hall gives a badge to all the winners with the cultural distinction 'City of Benidorm', which on Monday receives Professor Bárbara Alemany
Benidorm began yesterday the wide program of events designed to celebrate the Day of the Valencian Community with the unveil of the monolith of the new avenue '9 d'october'. An avenue that emerged with the construction of the Park of Foietes and that runs parallel to the avenue of the same name.
Around 8 pm, the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the elders and children of the Major Holidays, Anna Galiana and Àngela Antón, discovered the monolith of 9 d'october located at the beginning of the avenue. Then, the institutional retinue moved to the interior of the Park Foietes to attend a concert of the Societat Musical La Nova.
The design of this monolith is the work of the artist Miguel Bayona and has also served as the basis for the insignia that from this year will be given to the winners with the cultural distinction 'Ciutat de Benidorm'. A badge that yesterday received all the people and entities that to date have been deserving of this recognition. Thus, the mayor presented these insignia to Francisco Amillo Alegre, Rafael Doménech Pardo, Pasqual Almiñana, Miguel Ribes Sogorb, Rafael Alemany and representatives of the Societat Musical l'Illa, the public school Ausias March, the Musical Union, the Colla de Xirimiters de la Marina, the Taula of the Bon Profit and the Recreational Cultural Association La Barqueta.
A badge was also given to the families of Jaume Ferrando, José Zaragoza Pérez, José Fuster Llorens, Vicente Llorca Zaragoza, Jaume Antón and José Orozco Llorca, while the Pilota Club Benidorm was unable to attend the event due to sports commitments. As for the erudite Pere Mª Orts i Bosch, it will become part of the collection of medals, badges and awards that the sister city, Josefina Orts i Bosch, passed away a few months ago.
The mayor recalled yesterday that the English philologist and teacher Bárbara Alemany will be the next to receive this badge and the cultural distinction 'Ciutat de Benidorm' in recognition of his pedagogical trajectory. Alemany will collect both during the institutional plenary scheduled for Monday, October 9, at 11:00 am in El Castell.
Pérez explained that the idea of creating this badge has started from the Commission that since 2012 is in charge of proposing to the winners the cultural distinction 'Ciutat de Benidorm', composed of people and entities that have been recognized in previous editions.
The mayor stressed that yesterday was "a special day" because it also meant the setting up of the new Foietes Park, a space called to become the "center of cultural and social life of a beloved neighborhood and working people" ", and in which it has its headquarters the SM La Nova.
After the intervention of the mayor, the concert offered by La Nova commemorating the 9 of October continued, in which a total of eight pieces were interpreted.
