Benidorm Gastronómico opens a 'gourmet' activity

El Benidorm Gastronómico estrena una actividad ‘gourmet’

Benidorm Gastronómico 2018 premieres a new activity: a 'gourmet' day that joins the rest of the events already consolidated and that will begin next February with the VII Days of the Spoon. The mayor, Toni Pérez, and the president of Abreca-Cobreca, Javier del Castillo, have presented Benidorm Gastronómico calendar during the second day of the International Tourism Fair of Madrid (Fitur).

The mayor has stressed that all these activities and days are "an added value" for the city and serve to show "the powerful gastronomic offer" that Benidorm has and "the excellent work of its restaurateurs".

As in previous years, Benidorm Gastronómico calendar has been made "away from those moments in which the maximum influx of visitors is guaranteed" such as summer, Easter or long weekends.

After the Day of the Spoon, which is celebrated from February 24 to March 4, the III Gastronomic Fair is scheduled for May 15. The president of Abreca has indicated that "the gastronomic fair is going to coincide" with the new 'gourmet' event, which, like the rest of the days, will last nine days to cover two weekends.

Del Castillo has advanced that the participating establishments will offer menus at 40 euros -drinks not included- in which the restaurateurs "will show and make their best preparations". The objective, he pointed out, is "to break a little idea of ​​Benidorm as a gastronomic but economic city".

He also explained that "we want gastronomic offer for all budgets and quality, and try to achieve excellence", and added with all Benidorm Gastronomic events "we do not seek profit but that people know that our businesses are at level of any other city in Spain. "

Del Castillo has detailed that in previous editions the Contest of Tapas and Pinchos has been closed "with about 25,000 brochettes consumed" and with more than 15,000 menus served in the Days of the Spoon and the Rice. By 2018 "the idea is to improve these numbers".

Benidorm Gastronómico will be presented in the city on February 1st. The act will serve to dismiss the culinary sponsors of 2017 and present the 2018.
