Benidorm finishes the redistribution of traffic in Rincón de Loix with a roundabout at the junction between Zamora and Bernat de Sarrià

Benidorm City Council has improved the safety and fluidity of road and pedestrian traffic in Rincón de Loix with the creation of a roundabout at the junction between Zamora street and Almirall Bernat de Sarrià Avenue, which "completes the redistribution" of the mobility in this neighborhood. The mayor, Toni Pérez, together with the Councilor for Public Space, José Ramón González de Zárate, have visited the area these days, in which they have also acted on the road of Almirall Bernat de Sarrià avenue from the new roundabout to the beginning from Ibiza street.

Toni Pérez has indicated that “in recent years the flow of vehicles in this area has increased, in which environment a good part of the health, social, educational and sports infrastructures of Rincón de Loix are located, such as the Imed Levante hospital , the 'Antonio López' soccer fields, the 'Les Caletes' municipal nursery school, the CEEM and CRIS centers or the 'La Torreta' social center ”. In addition, the execution of this roundabout is also "future planning", since it "will give access to the new Rincón de Loix health center, for which the City Council transferred the land more than three years ago and whose construction must be carried out by the Department of Health ”.

Likewise, "numerous tourist accommodations are also located in this area, in which an increase in the use of bicycles has also been detected, caused by the increase in kilometers of bike lanes through the Levante Cycling Ring project."

All these circumstances, he pointed out, “recommended improving traffic regulation at this point, something that we now achieve with this roundabout, around which green areas with artificial grass have been generated for a better and friendlier integration into the urban space. ”. In the next few days a specimen of olive tree will be placed in the center of the roundabout, "a native species very present in the area near the Huerta de Benidorm and with which we make a nod to the agricultural tradition of the city."

The mayor recalled that the creation of this roundabout and the resurfacing of the road on Almirall Bernat de Sarrià avenue are included in the 'Improvement of Road Safety and Accessibility 2020' project, with which “more than 25 performances in 40 streets of the different neighborhoods of Benidorm ”.
