RTVE has presented the new features of the next edition, for which it has renewed its most important agreements

Benidorm Fest 2027: the deadline for song submissions opens in two weeks

24 March 2026
Benidorm Fest 2027

Just a month after the end of its fifth edition, Benidorm Fest is already preparing for its sixth. This Tuesday, RTVE announced the main new features of Benidorm Fest 2027 at a press conference, also outlining the next steps for the winners of the previous edition. The press conference served as a symbolic starting point for the next edition of the Alicante festival, now firmly established as one of the major music platforms in Spain. Attendees included the Councillor for Events, Jesús Carrobles, and the Director General of Tourism for the Valencian Regional Government, Israel Martínez.

Among the main new features announced, RTVE confirmed the earlier submission period for Benidorm Fest 2027, which will run from April 6 to July 12, making it the earliest submission period to date. The aim is to encourage greater participation and improve the selection process.

During the press conference, TVE Director Sergio Calderón reaffirmed RTVE's commitment to Benidorm Fest, which he described as "the festival of Spanish music": "We are committed to continuing to build our brand in the music industry. We're not just making statements of intent, but taking concrete action."

Similarly, César Vallejo, director of Benidorm Fest, described it as "the major annual music event. We want artists to find here an opportunity for exposure that doesn't exist anywhere else in Spain."

RTVE's Director of Communication and Engagement, María Eizaguirre, highlighted the festival's plans: "We're already thinking about the next edition. We're going all out with this network's full commitment, with all its resources, for the sixth edition."

According to Eizaguirre, RTVE is calling on artists considering joining the Benidorm Fest "family" to know that there are many more initiatives surrounding the festival: "We will soon be announcing news about La Vuelta, film soundtracks... We are working very hard to ensure that everyone who has committed to this project, despite the difficulties, continues to do so with complete confidence."

At the end of the presentation, the Councillor for Events stated that "after a fifth edition in which Benidorm Fest took a qualitative leap in many aspects, especially in production and staging, we are starting this new season eager to continue demonstrating that investing in music and our city is a winning combination."

Bet on what works

Another confirmed strategic direction is the renewal of the artistic team, led by artistic director Sergio Jaén, along with choreographer Borja Rueda and visual director Ari Levelä, among other professionals. This team will continue to spearhead the festival's stage production.

The songwriting camp will also return for its fifth edition, having established itself as a key initiative for fostering collaborative music creation. Since its inception in 2023, this program has resulted in numerous songs that have become part of the festival's repertoire, contributing to the artistic development of performers and composers.

Tony Grox & LUCYCALYS: To Miami with Tainy

The winners of Benidorm Fest 2026, Tony Grox & LUCYCALYS, have reflected on their career after winning the Little Mermaid trophy and the Univision Award with their song ‘T Amaré’.

The duo shared their enthusiasm for upcoming international projects, including their trip to Miami to explore new professional opportunities in collaboration with Univision. Univision President Ignacio Meyer announced that Tony Grox & LUCYCALYS will produce a track with Tainy, considered one of the most successful producers in urban and Latin music, who has worked with artists such as Bad Bunny, J Balvin, and Daddy Yankee.

Furthermore, the Univision President confirmed the renewal of the agreement between the American network and RTVE for the next Benidorm Fest.

ASHA: From Benidorm to Estocolmo

During the press conference, ASHA, runner-up at Benidorm Fest 2026 and winner of the Spotify Award, also participated. The artist shared her experience after the competition and previewed some of her upcoming projects, including the recording of a Spotify single in Stockholm, scheduled for April 14th and 15th.

In this context, Melanie Parejo, Spotify's Director of Music for Southern and Eastern Europe, announced the renewal of the agreement between RTVE and the platform, which will allow this award to continue at the next edition of the festival.
