The city participates with the European Commission in a presentation on the future of tourism as a Green Pioneer of Smart Tourism 2025
Benidorm exhibits its model of smart and sustainable tourist destination at the ITB fair in Berlin

The Mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, has travelled to Germany to participate in the ITB in Berlin, one of the leading fairs in the tourism industry sector in the world, where the city will show its tourism and urban model that has made it a reference as a sustainable and intelligent destination. The manager of the Visit Benidorm Foundation, Leire Bilbao, is also participating in this Benidorm delegation, who together with the mayor will participate in numerous professional meetings, meetings with agents and tour operators and presentations to publicise the new developments that the destination presents and its varied offer to attract different tourist segments, including the LGTBIQ+.
Among the main activities that Benidorm has on its agenda during this edition of the ITB, the city's participation stands out both in the EU Smart Tourism stand and in the conferences organised by the European Commission that aim to promote innovative and environmentally friendly tourism policies within the framework of the Union.
Specifically, as a European Green Pioneer destination for Smart Tourism in 2025, Benidorm will be the protagonist in one of these conferences focused on sustainable tourism, addressing seasonality and promoting responsible tourism management, which will also be attended by destinations such as Iceland or the director of Sustainable Development of Tourism at the World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism), Dirk Glaesser. The panel, entitled 'Is the end of tourism approaching?', will take place tomorrow, March 5, and will explore how sustainability and digital transformation can influence the future of tourism, as Toni Pérez has advanced, who has pointed out that for the city it is "a great honor, but also a great opportunity to be able to present our model together with participants of this level and with the help of an institution as solvent and as recognized as the European Commission."
Likewise, and in this case under the umbrella of Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, Benidorm will have its counter at the ITB in Berlin together with the other six tourism brands of the Comunitat and the eleven associations and tourism companies that participate in this event. There, Mayor Toni Pérez shared proposals and concerns this Tuesday with the Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu; the Secretary of State for Tourism, Rosario Sánchez; and the general director of Turespaña, Miguel Sanz, before the institutional visit to the different stands.
Beaches; gastronomy; sports, leisure and nature; music festivals or Benidorm Pride are other legs that will focus the promotion of Benidorm at this professional fair. In addition, the city will make its presentation this Tuesday within the stand of the Comunitat Valenciana in the LGTBIQ+ space of the ITB, under the title "Benidorm, a LGTBQ+ friendly destination all year around".
