The festival featured students from five dance academies and the Municipal Conservatory
‘Benidorm en dansa’ brings together almost a thousand people to enjoy the talent of local dance
Nearly a thousand people gathered last night at Julio Iglesias Auditorium in l’Aigüera Park to enjoy the second edition of ‘Benidorm en dansa’ festival. This festival, revived in its current format last year by the Benidorm City Council's Department of Culture, once again delighted the audience with the talent of local children and young dance enthusiasts.
The evening, organised by the Department of Culture in collaboration with various local dance academies and the Municipal Elementary Dance Conservatory, revives this initiative, which had been discontinued for almost three decades. It aims to provide young dancers from Benidorm with a stage to showcase their choreography and demonstrate their artistry.
The city's mayor, Toni Pérez, accompanied the Councillor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, and other representatives of the City Council at the start of the event, showing their support for the participating students and teachers. They offered a varied repertoire of choreographies and styles, from classical ballet to modern dance, flamenco, and contemporary dance, to friends, family, and residents who didn't want to miss this spectacle.
Everyone applauded the various performances that took place throughout the evening, especially at the festival's closing, when the teachers and directors of the participating schools took to the stage: Pilar Segura, Paqui Mora, Daniela Arnoldo (Lope de Vega), Rosa Martínez, María José Moya, and the directors of the Municipal Elementary Dance Conservatory, as well as the students who starred in the festival.
The Councillor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, thanked the citizens for their attendance and support of this second edition of ‘Benidorm en dansa’, and also publicly expressed his gratitude to the students and teachers of the academies and schools for their “involvement and commitment, making this great event possible”.
