The aid will reach eight associations and will be allocated to the purchase of fresh and basic necessities

Benidorm delivers an 'extra' 72,000 euros to entities and parishes to reinforce care for people in vulnerable situations at Christmas

The Department of Social Welfare, directed by Ángela Llorca, is going to deliver 72,000 euros to social entities and parishes in Benidorm in the next few days to reinforce care for people in vulnerable situations during the Christmas season. This extraordinary injection is part of the Department's aid program to "alleviate the consequences of the energy crisis and inflation" and "complements the action and action that is carried out directly from Social Welfare", according to Llorca.

The councillor explained that "the eight beneficiary entities will allocate these funds to the acquisition of fresh food and basic necessities." Funds that will become effective immediately once the corresponding collaboration agreements between the City Council and the entities are signed, approved yesterday by the Local Government Board (JGL).

Specifically, this aid program will reach the local assembly of the Red Cross, Solidarity Benidorm, and Cáritas in six parishes in Benidorm: El Buen Pastor, Nuestra Señora de la Almudena, Nuestra Señora del Carmen, Sant Jaume and Santa Ana, Nuestra Señora del Mar, and San Francisco de Asis. Each of these entities will receive 9,000 euros, an amount that "this year has been increased."

Llorca has pointed out that "the conflict in Ukraine, the escalation of energy prices and the repeated increase in the shopping basket have caused the situation of vulnerability that part of the population suffered due to the pandemic to be maintained or worsened ”. "Hence, the City Council continues to provide the economic and human resources necessary to alleviate this state of need, either directly or through these social entities, thus expanding the radius of attention."

The councilor has had an impact on "the great work of attention to vulnerability carried out by all these entities in Benidorm", and has endorsed "the support of the City Council to all of them and the permanent collaboration to reach the largest volume of population possible".
