The JGL gives the green light to this aid, which reaches 9 associations and will be used for the purchase of basic products

Benidorm delivers 81,000 'extra' euros to entities and parishes to care for people in vulnerable situations at Christmas

Benidorm entrega 81.000 euros ‘extra’ a entidades y parroquias para reforzar la atención a personas en situación de vulnerabilidad en Navidad

The Department of Social Welfare, headed by Ángela Zaragozí, is going to deliver 81,000 euros to social entities and parishes in Benidorm in the coming days for people in vulnerable situations at Christmas. The Local Government Board (JGL) has given the green light to this extraordinary injection, which forms "a financial aid program for entities receiving products from the Food Bank."

According to the entities themselves, at this time the supply of basic products has been significantly reduced due to the changes of the European Union in its distribution policy to Food Banks, which has especially affected products such as milk and oil.

For this reason, Zaragozí explained, "With this aid, it is intended that the beneficiary entities have resources to acquire basic products to provide the population of Benidorm that needs them most including fresh food and Christmas and necessities products.”

Specifically, this aid program will reach the local Red Cross assembly, Solidaridad Benidorm and Cáritas in seven parishes in Benidorm: El Buen Pastor, Nuestra Señora de la Almudena, Nuestra Señora del Carmen, Santiago Apóstol, Nuestra Señora del Mar, San Juan Bautista and San Francisco de Asis. Each of these entities will receive 9,000 euros, the same amount approved the previous year, in which they collaborated with eight associations.

Zaragozí highlighted that all of these entities “carry out very meritorious work in caring for the vulnerable population and collaborate with the City Council in activities and programs against poverty and social exclusion to reach the greatest possible number of people.”

The person in charge of Social Welfare has stressed that "in an economic context like the current one, with high inflation and the shopping basket also high, it is important that administrations join efforts and resources and together with the entities, help the population that needs it most and improve their situation.”
