Benidorm creates a multi-sport area in the upper part of l'Aigüera Park

02 February 2017
Benidorm crea una pista multideporte en la parte alta del Parque de l’Aigüera

Benidorm City Council has increased the leisure and sports offer in l'Aigüera Park with the construction of a multi-sport track of 24x12 meters in the high section of this green zone. The track, where football and basketball can be practiced, is located next to the adapted children's play area, in a space where previously two iron goalposts were installed.

The mayor, Toni Pérez, explained that "with this action we are attending a neighborhood demand to provide l'Aigüera Park with more leisure areas for the young people", while "improving the state and the image of this area of the park, Completing this open space of entertainment for all users ". Pérez recalled that a few months ago the City Council already executed a track of the same characteristics in La Cala, in front of the CdT, which "has been very well received and used daily by children and youth of the neighborhood."

The execution of this multi-sport track has meant an investment of around 60,000 euros, and has required in the first place the leveling of the terrain, which at this point had an important slope and has been solved with the elevation of the lower surface which occupies the track.

Concrete and natural stone have been installed on the piste and anti-caddy baskets and a treated wooden fence has been installed for better integration into the environment.

Pérez reported that although the surface and fencing of the track are already completed, "this cannot be opened until the end of the month since it is necessary to leave a period of 28 days to ensure the setting of the firm and to be able to paint the lines."

The mayor said that "we will put specific illumination for the track so that it can be used throughout the opening hours of the park". Besides, it is planned to install benches and improve the gardening.
