Benidorm condemns the latest crime for sexist violence in Mazarrón
The Benidorm City Council has convened a silent concentration this afternoon in the Plaza de SS. mm. Kings of Spain to condemn the last confirmed crime of sexist violence, which occurred last Sunday in Mazarrón (Murcia). The mayor, Toni Pérez, has led this concentration in which the victim has been remembered, number 39 since the beginning of 2022 and 1,172 since 2003, the year in which the data on women murdered by their partners or ex-partners began to be counted.
The events occurred early Sunday morning when a neighbor of the victim alerted that the woman was lying breathless outside her home. Upon arrival at the home, the toilets could only certify the death of the 56-year-old woman and that she had a blow to the head. Subsequently, her 68-year-old partner was arrested, who had a history of mistreatment and who is in provisional prison.
The Department of Equality recalls that the City Council has personnel specialized in gender violence to provide free advice to any woman who feels threatened. Likewise, it reiterates once again that the victims have the free telephone number 016, which leaves no trace on the telephone bill, although it is advisable to remove it from the mobile phone call log. This service is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, and in 52 languages.
