Benidorm celebra el sábado la feria del programa ‘Actíva-t Fest’ que fomenta la actividad física, la salud y el bienestar en los mayores de 50 años

Benidorm City Council's Department of Sports has announced that the promotional fair for the "Actíva-t Fest" program will take place next Saturday, February 28th. This program was created to promote active and healthy ageing. The fair, which was initially scheduled to be held in Elche Park on January 24th, was postponed due to adverse weather conditions. The venue remains the same, as confirmed by the Councillor for Sports, Javier Jordá.

From 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, there will be masterclasses, information tents about the program, guided walks, activities, and talks, a merchandising point, and an exhibition of companies related to well-being, including psychology, nutrition, and physiotherapy.

With the slogan "Your health, our goal," the "Actíva-t Fest" initiative is funded by the European Union through the Next Generation EU program. Specifically, this initiative is included in the Destination Tourism Sustainability Plan (PSTD) ‘Verde Benidorm’ within the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.

Jordá noted that this program is a project designed “to promote well-being, health, and physical activity among Benidorm's over-50 population and its visitors through a varied and free range of sports activities.” These free sports services, the councillor explained, began in January and will maintain a regular schedule for an initial period of three months.

The activities, “led by specialised instructors,” take place in locations such as the Palau d’Esports, Foietes Park, El Moralet, Sierra Helada, Séquia Mare Park, the Guillermo Amor Sports Complex, community centres, Tossal de La Cala, and Levante and Poniente beaches.

The scheduled activities are “very varied,” according to Jordá, who mentioned some such as group walks, swimming, aquagym, Pilates, adapted running, beach pétanque, tai chi, yoga for seniors, light weightlifting, Zumba, dance fitness, adapted paddle tennis, historical hiking, a coastal route, kayaking, etc.

However, those interested can find more information at the designated points in Foietes Park on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., in l’Aigüera Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., in El Moralet Park on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in the outdoor fitness area of Rincón de Loix on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and at the Palau d’Esports on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. “The fair will also feature workshops on healthy ageing, nutrition, psychology, and more,” stated Jordá, who emphasised that “Benidorm is a perfect city for these activities because we have many natural spaces to hold them.”

This activity, part of the ‘Actíva-t Fest,’ is aimed not only at Benidorm residents over 50 but also at visitors of that age, up to the maximum capacity of most activities, which is set at 20 people.
