Benidorm celebrates its agricultural tradition with San Isidro's pilgrimage

15 May 2022
Romería San Isidro

After two years without being able to celebrate due to the pandemic, Benidorm is experiencing this weekend the festivities in honour of San Isidro, one of the most deeply rooted and oldest festivities in the city. A date in which the tradition of the garden is felt in some of the most touristic enclaves of Benidorm with the traditional pilgrimage, in which a dozen cars have accompanied the patron saint of farmers on their tour of the Paseo de Levante, Ametlla del Mar and Severo Ochoa avenues and Camí Vell de l'Albir until reaching the Hermitage of Sanç.

The pilgrimage, organised by the San Isidro Commission, was attended by, among others, the mayor, Toni Pérez; members of the municipal corporation; the queens of the Festes Majors Patronals, Aila Merenciano and Chloe D'Hebboudt, with their courts of honour; the president of the Commission, José Vicente Fuster; the president of the Penyes Association, Adrián Romero; as well as the members of the Comissio de San Isidro and other festive groups linked to the Huerta.

Once in the hermitage, the traditional auction of jugs and the donkey raffle have been held.
