Benidorm begins the remodeling of Elche Park, which will include a paving equal to that of Paseo de Poniente

The works of integral remodeling of Elche Park, valued at 700,000 euros and included in the project of 'Improvement of Universal Accessibility and Sustainability of Benidorm', have already begun. The acting mayor, Toni Pérez, and the president of the Provincial Council of Alicante also acting, César Sánchez, have seen how the works are being developed, which in the first phase will be centered in the area of ​​gardens to leave open during the summer the area of ​​walk.

The mayor has indicated that the rehabilitation of Elche Park is the most iconic work of those included in the project of 'Improvement of Universal Accessibility and Sustainability of Benidorm', which overall amounts to 1,992,000 euros spread over six areas of action, and that has a grant of 950,000 euros from the Provincial Council of Alicante within the line of aid to local entities for financially sustainable investments.

Pérez thanked the president of the Diputación "the work he has done for Benidorm" throughout this term. A work that has resulted in "a direct investment more than 5 million euros and another 10 million indirect investment", and that has in this project of "Improvement of Accessibility and Sustainability" its "colophon."

For his part, the provincial president has described as "proud" having "shared work with this local government", and stressed that the works requested by Benidorm to the County Council have always focused on achieving "residents and tourists live happier "

On the rehabilitation of Elche Park, the acting mayor has reminded that this will maintain the current appearance of trails, although incorporating the same imitation material from the Foietes Park, while in the promenade area there will be continuity to the colored pavement of Paseo de Poniente. With regard to services, a rainwater network is going to be installed, to avoid accumulations of water when it rains; they will reform the ramps and access stairs to the beach; the luminaires will be renewed with 'led' technology and the gardening areas conserving the trees; the wall that separates the park from the sand is arranged with masonry; and wifi access points will be installed.

Once the works of the first phase in the garden area are finished, the walkway area will be renewed, with the change of pavement and the remodeling of the existing wall and railing. The change of the pavement and the access ramps to the beach will begin in September. Previously, the wall will be operated on short stretches to cause minimal discomfort and keep the passage open in the area of ​​the walk during the high season.

As the mayor recalled, the project "Improvement of Universal Accessibility and Sustainability" will reach "practically all neighborhoods of Benidorm" through the different plans and planned actions. Thus, within the Plan of Sidewalks, the renovation of the upper section of Esperanto Street has been included; while with the Asphalting Plan, the high section of Avenida de Beniardá and La Cala will be operated. The pedestrian accessibility of the city's central almond will also be completed, access controls will be installed at the most sensitive points, an Improvement Plan for Accessibility to buildings will be executed that will reach all municipal public buildings, and will be built a new access to the school complex of the Salt de l'Aigua through a bridge over the Derramador ravine, thus extending Barca del Bou street and joining it with the European Community avenue.

Being subject to a grant from the Provincial Council of Alicante, the project of 'Improvement of Universal Accessibility and Sustainability of Benidorm' must be completed before November 1.
