Works are going to be carried out in an approximate section of 150 meters from the junction with Catalán Chana, generating a new sidewalk

Benidorm begins the improvement of accessibility on Sierra Dorada street

Benidorm City Council has started today the works to improve accessibility on Sierra Dorada street, the access road "to our Serra Gelada Natural Park", as indicated by the Councilor for Works, José Ramón González de Zárate. This action will be developed "in an approximate section of 150 meters, from the junction of Sierra Dorada street with Alcalde Manuel Catalán Chana street" and with it "a sidewalk will be created on the right side, greatly improving accessibility" .

De Zárate recalled that "we are talking about a section with inaccessible sidewalks or with zebra crossings for pedestrians on the road, hence it has been considered necessary to undertake this work, also claimed by the residents of the area."

The councillor has detailed that "this work is part of the Accessibility Plan, endowed with one million euros and with which we are working throughout the year in different parts of the city." Now, "once August is over, we take advantage of the decline in tourist activity to carry out this work with which we advance in the configuration of safe and fully accessible pedestrian routes to the Natural Park and the coves."

According to him, it is "a complicated work" due to the narrowness of the street itself, which makes it difficult for the machinery to work, and that is why we ask residents and tourists for understanding ".

The performance is scheduled to be completed in two months. While the works are being made, access to the section under construction from Alcalde Manuel Catalán Chana street will only be allowed to residents; although "due to the narrowness of the street, at times it will be necessary to make specific traffic cuts due to the presence of heavy vehicles." These specific cuts "will be duly signposted, establishing alternative traffic."

Likewise, during the course of the works, general access to the Serra Gelada Natural Park will be from London or Paris streets, to Montecarlo and from there to Sierra Dorada.
