Benidorm awards the contract for the renovation of El Torrejó municipal tourist office for just over 103,000 euros
The local Governing Board of Benidorm City Council awarded the contract for the renovation of the Tourist Office at the El Torrejó Municipal Centre to Land Ingeniería y Desarrollos on Monday, for a budget of €103,480.54, including VAT. This project falls under Axis 4, Action 10 of the 2023 Destination Tourism Sustainability Plan (PSTD) ‘Verde Benidorm’, financed by the European Union with Next Generation funds, and has a completion deadline of two months from the date the winning bidder begins work.
The mayor of the city, Toni Pérez, stated that three companies submitted bids in this process, with Land Ingeniería y Desarrollos' proposal receiving the highest rating from the municipal technicians responsible for its review and evaluation.
The mayor explained that the aim of this project is to give the Tourist Office a modern and adapted image, reflecting the evolving interests of visitors, who are increasingly technologically savvy and focused on sustainability. Pérez emphasised the crucial role of tourist offices during tourists' stays in the city and highlighted that, "aware of this vital role, we continuously strive to offer the best possible service in these offices and adapt them to changing times." He also noted that in 2018, they received the Tourist Info Network's Innovation Award for the implementation of digital information kiosks.
With the new project awarded today, the City Council intends to "redesign the office based on criteria of sustainability, proximity to resources, accessibility, and inclusion, thus guaranteeing the experience, functionality, and quality of the products offered in the new tourist office that will be created," he explained.
The project also includes renovating the office "to house the digital technologies that will enable a more digital user experience." Finally, the office will also feature new electrical and lighting installations, new finishes, and updated signage and equipment.
