Both requests are made under the Plan +Cerca 2023
Benidorm asks the Provincial Council for two subsidies for 712,000 euros for electricity costs and horizontal signaling actions
The Local Government Board of Benidorm City Council has approved the request to the Provincial Council for two subsidies under the +Cerca 2023 Plan for a value of 712,017.50 euros. A request that originates from two proposals by the Councilor for Urban Scene and Works, José Ramón González de Zárate.
The first proposal is part of the Call for Infrastructure Subsidies and Assistance to Municipalities of the +Cerca 2023 Plan of the Provincial Council and its destination will be the actions in terms of horizontal signaling in various streets of the municipal area. In this case, the requested subsidy amounts to 439,738 euros, which is the maximum amount granted by the provincial entity for a municipality with the population of Benidorm. The City Council has calculated the cost of this action at 573,984.38 euros, so the municipal contribution will amount to 134,246.38 euros.
As explained by the councilor of the department, the objective of applying for this subsidy is to reinforce road safety for both vehicles and pedestrians on municipally owned streets, as well as improve universal and sustainable accessibility, as we have been doing in recent years " . The consequence of these actions will be, according to González de Zárate "an improvement in the fluidity, comfort, and efficiency of circulation, as well as the reduction of the social cost by reducing accidents".
On the other hand, the second grant falls within the same Call for Infrastructure and Assistance Grants to Municipalities of the +Cerca 2023 Plan, although in this case the request for a nominal grant for current expenses is presented as a municipality excluded from the +Cerca 2022 Plan Benidorm requests a grant of 272,279.50 euros that will be used to cover the electricity costs of the main City Hall building and the Palau d'Esports L'Illa de Benidorm for the year 2022.
