Benidorm announces the XXXII ‘Christmas Window Dressing and Decoration Contest’
Benidorm City Council today announced the 32nd edition of the Christmas Window Dressing Contest, which, once again, is aimed at the city's retail, service, restaurant, and hotel sectors. Participants are encouraged to decorate their shop windows, facades, and bars (in the case of bars and restaurants). This morning, the Councillor for Commerce, Javier Jordá, presented the competition at a press conference, emphasising that its central theme will be "the Christmas season, Christmas values, its surroundings, elements, and everything related to this celebration."
The competition will award €5,800 in prizes across three categories: retail, restaurants, and hotels. The first two categories will each receive a €1,000 prize, and five additional prizes of €750, €500, €350, €200, and €100 will be awarded in each category. In the case of hotels, there will be three prizes—first, second, and third—consisting of a commemorative plaque and a communications and social media campaign.
Jordá explained that those eligible to participate are “owners of commercial, service, accommodation, and hospitality establishments located within the municipality of Benidorm, who are not subject to any prohibition from receiving subsidies and who are up-to-date with their tax and Social Security obligations.”
The Councillor for Commerce specified that the application period “began today and will end on December 9 at 2:00 p.m.” Applications can be submitted after completing the form found on the website https://benidorm.org/es/ayuntamiento/concejalias/comercio-e-industria/. Entries can also be submitted via email to benidormnadal2025@benidorm.org (indicating the name of the participating establishment in the subject line). Alternatively, entries can be submitted in person at the Department of Commerce, located on the third floor of the Town Hall, between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
The shop windows, the councillor stated, “must be set up and decorated by the 11th at the latest.” Jordá specified that this year “creativity, ambience, presentation, and sustainability will be taken into account, and a photograph must be posted on social media with the hashtag #Benidormnadal2025.” The councillor took the opportunity to “encourage all businesses to participate to have a festive Christmas and enhance Benidorm’s image as an attractive shopping destination.”
Alongside the councillor were representatives from AICO, Juanjo Camarasa; Abreca, Irene Carreño; and Hosbec, Jorge Ferrándiz. All three agreed on the importance of "decorating establishments" to enhance the city's atmosphere, encouraged their members to participate in the competition, and emphasised that taking part is "getting involved and contributing to building the city we want."
At the press conference, it was announced that the Gala, where awards will be presented to the winning participating establishments, will take place next Friday, December 19, at 9:00 p.m. in the Municipal Auditorium.
