Benidorm achieves a grant of 100,000 euros for a training plan for unemployed young people

21 July 2017
Benidorm logra una subvención de 100.000 euros para un plan de formación para jóvenes en paro

'BENIDORM INCLUSION' includes three itineraries: sports activities, restoration of buildings and landscaping

The program will have 45 participants, who will receive a certificate of professionalism

Benidorm City Council has obtained a grant of 100,990.22 euros from the European Social Fund for the Youth Employment Operative Program, for the sustainable integration of young people in the labor market, in the context of the National Youth Guarantee System, to develop a training project for employment aimed at unemployed young people, as stated in the resolution published yesterday in the Official State Gazette (BOE).

This call, which has been submitted to 117 municipalities throughout Spain, was aimed at towns of more than 50,000 inhabitants, financed through the European Social Fund, and is developed within the framework of the National Youth Guarantee System.

The Councilor for Employment, Mª Jesús Pinto, explained that the project designed by the Agency for Employment and Local Development (AEDL) and entitled BENIDORM INCLUSION, "is divided into three training itineraries: sports and recreational activities in the field of tourism, maintenance and restoration of buildings, and landscaping and maintenance of green tourist spaces ".

Each of these itineraries will involve 15 unemployed young people, thus reaching a total of 45 people who "will receive specific training", who "will also do non-work placements in companies" and who "will receive a certificate of professionalism at the end of the project". Specifically, and depending on the itinerary, obtain the 'Auxiliary activities in nurseries, gardens and garden centers', 'Auxiliary operations of continuous coatings under construction', and 'Physical-sport and recreational animation'.

The head of Employment indicated that BENIDORM INCLUSION lasts approximately six months, and has encouraged all youth in the municipality in unemployment to be informed of the requirements and how they can participate in this program at the Center's facilities. Youth Information (CIJ) or through http://www.empleo.gob.es/es/garantiajuvenil/accesoJovenes.html

Pinto stressed that "with the design and development of this training plan we seek to strengthen the employability and professional skills of our young people with the aim of combating youth unemployment and leaving it in minimum percentages."

In addition to the project of the City of Benidorm, only three other municipalities in the province of Alicante have attended this call. With this grant, so far this year AEDIL has already managed more than 1.2 million euros of training and employment grants from other administrations.
