The winning video claims the fight against gender violence, while the second prize advocates equality for deaf women or women with other disabilities
Alina Georgiana and Julia Isabel Téllez, winners of ‘Benidorm for Equality’, a video contest on TikTok to raise awareness about gender equality
The councilors of Youth, Jaime Jesús Pérez, and of Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, have delivered the prizes this morning to the winner and second classified of Tiktok contest 'Benidorm for Equality', a video contest to raise awareness for equality of gender, framed in the events around March 8, International Women's Day.
Alina Georgiana Dascalu has been the winner of the first prize, endowed with 200 euros, with a video of the song ‘Barbie girl’ by Aqua group to vindicate the fight against gender violence. The second prize, endowed with 100 euros, has been for Julia Isabel Téllez, with a video produced jointly with members of the sign language class of the Tourist Training Center, which advocates equality for all women, including deaf women or with other disabilities, and they also claim the fight against gender violence.
Ángela Zaragozí has been "proud of the great participation that the contest has had, with very different age ranges" and has stressed that "the initiative is a success that has shown that there are many young people aware of achieving real equality".
Jaime Jesús Pérez has underlined that "the videos presented in Benidorm have had more than eleven thousand views and among all the participating videos in Spain there have been close to two million views", and added that "whenever we can we will repeat initiatives like this one" .
The two winners have agreed to underline the importance of promoting this type of video because "Tiktok has a great impact and has allowed us to reach many people to raise awareness about equality and the fight against gender violence."
The winning video of Benidorm contest is now competing for the prizes in the national contest ‘Rolling for equality’, in which people from more than 50 Spanish municipalities participate. These prizes will be 1000, 500 and 250 euros respectively for the first, second and third place.
