4,800 runners participate in Benidorm Half, the sports festival
Athletes from all over Spain and many other nationalities, among which the British stand out, with around 1,600 registered, have taken the start at 5:30 p.m. from the Avenida de la Comunidad Valenciana to carry out the two routes ending at Plaza de Sus Majesties the Kings of Spain, next to the City Hall.
The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, was in charge of launching the starting shot, accompanied by the Councilor for Sports, Javier Jordá, and a good part of the municipal corporation.
After half an hour, the athletes began to arrive at their destination. Some were more tired than others, but all were in a very good mood. A good number of athletes have traveled the distance in costume.
The first to reach the finish line in the men's 10K was Antonio Abadía, with 30 minutes and 16 seconds; the second, David Palacio, with 30:20; and the third, Cristhian Zamora. In the female category, Mª Luz Tesuri won with a time of 34:02; in second position, María Fuentes, 34:41; and then Cristina Juan, with 36:04.
Regarding the Half Marathon, Cristian Martínez came in first place with a time of 1 hour, 8 minutes, and 52 seconds. In second, David Narborough, with 1:10:51. In third, Diego Bringas, 1:12:08. The women's podium was taken by Mª José de Toro, 1:18:57; Pilar Rubio, 1:20:14; and, finally, Mª Ángeles Magán, 1:23:32.
