The weather forecast predicts an intense competition in which 540 athletes will participate in 60 teams from 19 clubs of the Valencian Community
The 10th Regatta of Suma Liga de Llaüt de banco fijo will be celebrated on Sunday in Benidorm

This coming Sunday, April 27th, the waters of Benidorm Bay will host, starting at 9:00 a.m., the tenth regatta of Liga Suma de Llaüt de banco fijo, the eleventh edition of the "Mare de Déu del Sofratge" trophy organised by the Valencian Community Rowing Federation and the Benidorm Yacht Club in collaboration with the Department of Sports.
This morning, the Councilor for Sports, Javier Jordá, and the president of the Benidorm Yacht Club, Jaume Samper, presented the event, which is expected to include "60 teams from 19 clubs throughout the Valencian Community and 540 athletes," Jordá stated, adding that competition will be held in "women's and men's categories, from cadets to veterans and in SCM (people who have survived breast cancer)."
The councillor noted that the weather forecast for the weekend predicts "clear skies with southwesterly winds of approximately eight knots," which adds "extra excitement to the races" due to the sea conditions.
"It could be," he clarified, "a problem for the referees, but the best spectacle and the best competition are guaranteed in the waters of our bay."
The regatta will be held "parallel to the port breakwater," Jordá explained, "with the start at the green lighthouse." The course will have tacking markers near the geyser and will be run on a track "with four lanes, each 350 meters long." The junior and senior categories will cover 1,400 meters, and the cadet, veteran, and SCM categories will cover 700 meters.
For his part, Samper announced that the Benidorm Yacht Club is "rowing at home" with "five teams: veterans in the men's and women's categories; senior teams in both categories; and the SCM team, which includes the rowers from Anémona," the Marina Baixa Self-Help Group for Women with Breast and Gynecological Cancer.
Finally, Semper thanked the City Council for its collaboration in organising the event and encouraged "all residents and visitors to enjoy a great day of racing and the unparalleled views of our bay from El Castell or the Yacht Club."
