This morning has taken place the stage of Benidorm of the XXXI edition of the Volta a la Marina, organized by the Unió Ciclista de Benidorm with the collaboration of the Department of Sports. In total 163 riders have taken the exit and the main protagonist of the day, apart from the winner, has been the weather: the strong wind gusts throughout the morning and the rain that made the end of the stage did fear the suspension of The test, as happened last year.
The riders began pedaling past 10.00 in the morning from the neutralized exit on Avenida Vicente Llorca Alòs, on the Paseo de Poniente. The itinerary continued by Alcalde Pérez Devesa to climb to the area of the roundabouts that surround Terra Mítica, forming a circuit that the runners had to do eight laps to finally return to the city along Avenida del Murtal and again, in Opposite direction, to Vicente Llorca Alòs, where the goal was located.
In total the cyclists have traveled 65 km, many of them with the wind of face and of rise which sensibly increased the times and the arrival at the end of stage that took place when four minutes by the noon were missing.
The winner of the day was Francesc Boscà, of category Master-50 and of the team GE Volata, that made the entry in goal with 1 hour, 35 minutes and 50 seconds; The second classified, with ten seconds more, has been, Sergio Torres, Elite category, Velosol Cycling Team; And the third, Germán Mortes, of category Master-40, of the Ginestar-Ulbsports, with the same time. Boscà's excellent state of the art, his skill and technique have allowed him to take on a much younger and even professional antagonist. In terms of Volta, he is the leader of the mountain Leon Hoch, in flying goals Sergio Torres (also the best cyclist in the province), as the best team the Volata and Francesc Boscà, leader.
In representation of the City of Benidorm have been present throughout the morning, very pending the evolution of meteorology and in permanent contact with the Local Police, municipal spokesman José Ramón González de Zárate and Councilman Arturo Cabrillo. Fortunately, the stage has been able to conclude not before there were some falls in the last few bars and forced the organization to perform the trophies in a closed place after preventing it outside, as planned, rain.
