Golpes Bajos meets at Iberia Festival in Benidorm thirty years later to pay homage to Germán Copini

06 September 2018
Golpes Bajos se reúne en el Iberia Festival de Benidorm treinta años después para homenajear a Germán Copini

When there are barely 37 days until the sixth edition of Iberia Festival begins, this morning it has been confirmed that the tribute concert to Germán Copini on Saturday, October 13 will gather the members of Golpes Bajos for the first time. The original band formed by Teo Cardalda, Pablo Novoa and Luis García with Copini reached fame in the early eighties of the last century with songs like 'Do not look in the eyes of the people' or 'Bad times for the lyric'.

The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez; the music promoter, Javier Ferrándiz; the representative of the sponsoring company (Servigrup), Natalia Caballé; and Teo Cardalda have appeared today before the media to present the Iberia Festival of 2018, which has become one of the most important events in Spanish music that will be held on October 12 and 13 at 'Julio Iglesias' Auditorium of l'Aigüera Park. In the press conference was also present the councilman of Events, José Ramón González de Zárate.

About this Iberia, Toni Pérez said that he proposes "an incredible poster" that puts in value the Spanish music, "the one that has made us and makes us enjoy the Spaniards". The mayor also recalled the link between Benidorm and the music and the extensive offer that it offers throughout the year to tourists and residents "because we have a climate that allows us to have good weather almost all year round". Pérez congratulated Ferrándiz and his team "for the effort they make for the city and for Spanish music" by bringing groups representing different generations of national pop artists together on the same stage.

Regarding the tribute to Germán Copini, Teo Cardalda stressed that although other municipalities of greater scope such as Vigo, or Santander, more linked with the missing vocalist, have tried to reunite the original Golpes Bajos for the thirtieth anniversary of the dissolution of the group, Benidorm and its Iberia Festival have finally been chosen. It will be "very comforting for us," he said. Iván Ferreiro, Golpes fan publishes an album with the songs and a book about the group has been published. We have won the lottery. "

Ideal date to visit Benidorm

Finally, Natalia Caballé encouraged the participation of the public in the festival and recalled that the chosen days "are very good dates to visit Benidorm since the summer lasts practically until Christmas". For his part, Javier Ferrándiz recalled that Iberia Festival has gathered in its five editions "the 50 or 60 most important bands" of the national music scene and that this year's "will be a success" because it has become " a music reference that is made in our country ".

On the poster, Ferrándiz indicated that on Friday 12 will play Tequila, Café Quijano, Jaime Urritia, OBK, Badlands and The Fly. For its part, on Saturday 12, the highlight will be the return to the scene of Golpes Bajos in the tribute to Copini, which will also feature the interventions of Ivan Ferreiro, Sole Giménez, Javier Ojeda, Pepe Begines, Mercedes Ferrer and Nacho Campillo. On the same day Coque Malla, Dance Invisible and Perdiendo los Papeles will also intervene.
