Tomorrow, Saint Joseph's day, the fire will put the final point to Fallas 2018

Floral offering of the fallas to the patroness saint of Benidorm

18 March 2018
Ofrenda floral de las fallas a la patrona de Benidorm

The three Fallas of Benidorm: Els Tolls, Rincón de Loix and Benidorm Centro have participated this afternoon in the offering to the Verge del Sofratge that, as every year, organizes the Local Fallera Board. At 17.45 the commissions have been concentrated to start the parade that has led them from the crossing of the avenues of the Mediterranean with Europe to the Parochial Church of Sant Jaume and Santa Anna, crossing the main streets of the city, and from there to the Plaza de Castelar, where they have deposited their bouquets of flowers before the image of the patron saint.

In the offering have participated the mayor of the city, Toni Pérez, and the councilman of Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles, accompanied by other members of the municipal corporation. The queens of the Festes Majors Patronals 2018, Fátima Carrobles and Anna Calbo have also intervened, accompanied at all times by the president of the Comissió, Paco Marín, and president of the Local Fallera Board of Benidorm, Juan Carlos Scapussio. In the first place the falleras of the three commissions offered the flowers to the Virgin and then, the Falleras of each one: from Falla Els Tolls, Lucía Diego and Lorena Jiménez; from El Rincón de Loix, Marina Vaquer and Verónica Gordillo; and from Falla Centro, Verónica Buján and Loli Llopis.

In his speech, Toni Pérez said that the falleros are the ones who make it possible for Benidorm "to be filled with flowers and fiesta" in March, a month "festive that announces spring" and in which the Finding of the patroness saint is commemorated, the 16th, day when the monuments already occupy the streets of Benidorm. About the Fallas, the mayor pointed out that it is "the most Valencian festival", heritage of humanity and encouraged all those who visit us these days, to enjoy the three monuments before they are pasture of the fire tomorrow, St. Joseph.

On Monday, the 'cremà'

The Fallas events will continue tomorrow in Benidorm, San José day, with the traditional 'awakenings' of good morning and with acts in each of the three commissions. Starting at 6:00 pm there will be a parade of floats that will depart from Juan Fuster Zaragoza street and will cross Mediterráneo Avenue to Plaza de la Hispanidad. Regarding the 'cremà', the children's monuments will be burned from 23.30. The older ones: at 00.00 on Tuesday, the Falla del Rincón; at 00.30, Benidorm Centro; and at 01.00, Els Tolls.
