Culture exceeds a thousand interactions with citizens through QR codes

02 November 2020
Cultura supera el miler d'interaccions amb la ciutadania a través de codis QR...

The system of quick response codes, or QR codes, implemented by the Department of Culture to promote and publicize the cultural activities that take place in Benidorm, has exceeded a thousand interactions, specifically 1,122 "in the morning today" , as has announced the councilor of the area, Jaime Jesús Pérez.

A QR code is a module in which information can be stored and which takes the form of a matrix of points or two-dimensional symbol that can be read through mobile devices, such as smartphones or tablets, through their cameras. They respond by offering certain previously programmed information. The system has been used by Culture to disseminate the bimonthly programming of 'Benidorm Cultural' and the rest of the organized activities.

The "installation of QR codes - the councilor said - is an initiative that we had in mind in the government team, but with the current health situation, we considered adviasable to implement it." With the pandemic, it is convenient to “avoid contact with paper”, which has been achieved with the use of codes but, in addition, “City Council resources have been saved” and “care for the environment” avoiding the use of printed paper .

Despite its recent implementation by the Department of Culture, the QR codes have had a "very positive" acceptance and have been scanned "by the elderly and the young." They have been present in the City Council, administrative extensions, associations or cultural entities. Also in the cultural activities of recent months "such as festive music concerts, those on October 9, or in the Cycle of Great Recitals." The codes were placed in the entrances and with them the assistants could "obtain the program of the performance, download it or follow the social networks of the Department of Culture".

With the code system, the programming of 'Benidorm Cultural' is disseminated safely and precisely. Any establishment that wishes can have them, free of charge. With them they will be able to offer their users all the updated information and on their own mobile devices. Jaime Jesús Pérez has encouraged the owners of these businesses or facilities to request them at the City Council or the same council through their social networks: @benidormcultura.
