"Clean Up The World" campaign cleans waste in El Moralet area in Benidorm
Benidorm joins the campaign 'Clean up the world', this time in the area of El Moralet, driven by the Neighborhood Council with the support of the councils of Participation, Environment, as well as Doble Amor center and the local assembly of Cruz Roja. The cleaning tasks have focused on a municipal plot located next to one of the main entrances to the city that many residents use as a parking area, largely due to the proximity of the TRAM station.
The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, has been in charge of a municipal committee that has visited the area of action, along with councilwoman Mª Jesús Pinto, José Ramón González de Zárate, members of the neighborhood council, Cruz Roja, members of the Provincial Consortium of Firefighters of the Marina Baixa park, the Doble Amor center and members of the Socio-Cultural Association of the Local Police.
The activity aims to strengthen public awareness about the importance of conserving the environment, keeping it clean of waste and garbage.
The area of El Moralet has been abandoned for years due to the intensive use as a parking and the private use of the plot next to one of the access roads of the city. The mayor, Toni Pérez, stressed that "we must preserve what we have inherited and try to leave it in a better state than we found it." In this way, the location of this campaign is considered as "a very adequate place to carry out this activity and with it to launch the message of raising awareness and sensitizing the population".
Finally, Pérez explained that the campaign "is in an area in which we are acting in parallel with the adaptation of new services for recreation and parking such as the area of El Moralet section bordering José Ramón García Antón Avenue and with Benidorm Tram station.
