The City Council will enable as free parking the site of the old Las Terrazas building
Benidorm City Council will open the lot of the old Las Terrazas building as free parking, located at the confluence of the Mediterráneo and Europa avenues and Paseo de Levante. The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Perez, reported that "today an agreement has been signed with the owners of the site, which includes the temporary and free transfer in favor of the City Council, which will be responsible for adapting this plot as a parking , as well as its cleaning and maintenance. "
The mayor has indicated that "after reaching this agreement with the property, we put at the disposal of the residents of Benidorm a space of more than 3,700 square meters to park, thus addressing the claim that we had also transferred different business associations."
Pérez stressed that "we speak of a nerve center" for the commerce and tourism of Benidorm, and has stressed that "the adequacy of this site as a parking allows us to expand our park-and-ride parking spaces, but also improve the image and decoration of this point of the first line of Levante beach ".
After the signing of the agreement, it will imminently begin to adapt the plot, which will be operational as parking at the end of the week. The access and exit of vehicles from this zone of public and free parking will be done by Mediterráneo avenue, although a pedestrian access will also be enabled from Paseo de Levante.
For this adaptation of the site is going to reuse the pavement that is being removed from Europa avenue and that is being replaced by another type of asphalt that absorbs noise.
The mayor thanked "the generosity of the community of owners of the building 'Las Terrazas' that gives this plot at zero cost to the City Council", culminating "the work of many months of dialogue" between both parties.
