Benidorm drives a network of collective help care for those who need it during the crisis of the coronavirus
Telephone or care attention are also provided
A collective support network to guarantee basic care to people who need it most during the coronavirus crisis. That is the objective of the campaign launched today by the City Council, which seeks to “channel and coordinate the wave of solidarity that at these exceptional times is leading many people to offer themselves altruistically to help the risky and vulnerable population. , especially old people or those with mobility problems, so that they have the care, attention and services they need, such as acquiring food and medicines without exposing themselves to going outside or simply having a telephone conversation to alleviate their loneliness ”, as explained by the mayor, Toni Pérez.
Through this campaign we want to create a network in each of the neighborhoods, putting volunteers in contact with people in need.
To be part of this network, all you have to do is fill out the 'volunteer' or 'you need help' form, as the case may be, available on the website of the City Council –https: //benidorm.org/es/incidencia/campana-ayuda-contra -el-coronavirus- and Visit Benidorm –https: //en.visitbenidorm.es/ver/5583/help-benidorm-coronavirus.html in both Spanish and English. In addition, a customer service telephone number will be set up shortly for those who require assistance in completing the forms.
Through these forms, volunteers must provide, among other information, their neighborhood, time availability, possible knowledge of languages and areas in which they would like to collaborate: support for people with disabilities or the elderly, leisure and free time, purchase of food and / or medicines, support in Civil Protection tasks, etc. For their part, people who need help should indicate what kind of care they require - purchase of medicines / medicines, child or elderly care, help with preparing food, etc. - as well as what days or hours they need it.
The mayor stressed that “in extraordinary situations like the one we are experiencing, we are showing the best version of our citizenship; We are demonstrating our solidarity and our empathy with others, especially with the most vulnerable people, promoting initiatives, personally or collectively, that make them feel that they are accompanied and that they must know that together we will overcome this circumstance. ”
"At this moment," he added, "it is essential to recognize the work carried out daily by health, safety and basic service personnel, as well as to thank the public for following and complying with the instructions given by the health authorities in order to combat with greater guarantees this pandemic ”.
