Selected the four finalist Moor marches of the XIX Festera Composition Contest “Villa de Benidorm”. In the concert on September 28, the winning work will be known
The Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez Esteban, has announced this morning the decision of the Jury of the 19th Festera Music Composition Contest “Villa de Benidorm” 2019 that was held in “Moor Marches” mode. In its session yesterday, the Jury unanimously selected the four finalist compositions from the fifteen submitted to the contest.
Accompanied by the councillor of Culture in this act the president of the Association of Moors and Christians of Benidorm, Carlos Naya, and the director of the Musical Union of Benidorm, Pedro Salinas. The three were part of the jury that also integrated the Director of the Superior Conservatory of Alicante, José Vicente Asensi, and the professors of Benidorm and Denia, Antonio Cuenca and Víctor Vallés consevatories.
The selected works correspond to the numbers 9, 10, 13 and 14 presented under the slogan "Khadija", "Pilar", "Arraix" and "Tormo". The four compositions will be performed at the festive concert that the Musical Union of Benidorm will offer next September 28 at the Auditorium 'Oscar Esplá' in l'Aigüera Park in Benidorm and a jury appointed to that effect will proclaim the winning work that, he said the councilor, "will receive a trophy and a cash prize of 2,000 euros" along with a weekend stay at a Poseidón Hotel Chain. The director of Unión Musical stressed that "any of the four selected works will be a worthy winner."
The Councilor Jaime Jesús Pérez committed the support of the Department of Culture to initiatives like this and stressed that “the excellent and rapid response of the world of festive composition; fifteen compositions in a very short time that has given a boost to the fiesta ”.
During the event, the Association of Moors and Christians Festivities of Benidorm has announced the name of the crier for the Proclamation of the Festivities that will take place on Saturday, September 28 after the concert-composition contest. On this occasion, the chosen one was Francesc Xavier Llorca Ibi, professor at the University of Alicante and awarded with the ‘Ciutat de Benidorm’ award.
The official poster of the Moors and Christians Festivities 2019 will also be presented to be held on October 3, 4, 5 and 6. The work, a watercolor, has been made by the young Aida Mira Román who sought to "give prominence to women at the party." The scene flees from the stereotypes “of battle and conquest to free the interpretation of the scene”.
