Benidorm hands over the prizes for the 'Mayor for a day' contest

Benidorm entrega los permios del concurso ‘Alcalde/sa por un día’

Benidorm City Council delivered the prizes for the 'Mayor for a day' contest yesterday afternoon, in which nine primary and secondary schools in the city took part. A contest in which young students have shown through their work in different formats their proposals and wish for how they want Benidorm to be.

The act took place in the Plenary Hall of the Town Hall with the presence of members of the corporation and parents and relatives of the distinguished students. The awards were presented by the mayor, Toni Pérez, the Councilor for Education, Maite Moreno, and the president of FAMPA Marina Baixa, Viviana Ankonetani.

The contest has been very well received to the point that the prize categories were increased, including three-second prizes, two-fourth, one-fifth, and one-sixth prizes that were not initially contemplated.

In the first cycle, the first prize went to Elías Rioua from La Cala school. The second was for Blanca Soler from Bautista Lledó and the third was for Shuqin Chen, from Miguel Hernández. Raúl Abellán, from Serra Gelada school, also won a second prize.

In the second cycle, the first prize went to Cris Navarro from La Cala, the second to Marta Molina from Aitana, and the third to Catalina Malán from Leonor Canalejas. Hugo Sanz, from the La Cala school, obtained a second prize while the fourth, fifth, and sixth prizes went to Jeanela Jiménez, from Leonor Canalejas, Aitana Medina, from Mestre Gaspar López, and Simón Alemán, from La Cala.

In the third cycle, Nicolás Labrador, from La Cala school, won first prize.

The second was for Jaume Medina, from Mestre Gaspar López and the third was for Annya Ahmed, from Els Tolls. Daniel Molina, from the Aitana school, won the second prize and Sarah Moses, from La Cala, the fourth prize.

Finally, in the chapter of special mentions, the first one went to the students of the 2ºC and 2ºE classes of the IES Pere María Orts for their work with proposals for Benidorm, which was collected by the students Mengxuan Chen and Sergio Ferrer.

The second mention went to Ismael Rioua, from the 4th grade of primary school at La Cala "for his lesson in self-improvement and perseverance and his example of a positive attitude towards life".

Mayor Toni Pérez closed the event with a speech in which he thanked the families and schools "for their involvement in the contest" and the participants "for their proposals". Péerz reminded them that "the City Council is a close institution in which everyone must participate because democracy also develops through participation." Lastly, Pérez promised to “learn from your work”.
